I’m a literary agent, attorney, author, and editor who holds a Ph.D. in history from UC Berkeley. As an author, my books include Machiavelli for Moms (Simon & Schuster) and Forgotten Crimes: The Holocaust and People with Disabilities.
I’m also a former ghostwriter for a #1 New York Times bestselling author with 30 million copies sold and my work has appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, and other publications, including USA Today, Newsweek, Parade, McSweeney's, History News Network, The History Channel, the TODAY show, and the London Times
I have written, edited, revised, developed, represented, promoted, and sold everything from serious adult nonfiction books, memoirs, and picture book to Ph.D. history dissertations, op-eds at major publications, legal and appellate briefs, parenting and humor books, writing guides, travel and sport articles, and thousands of query letters, manusciptis and proposals!
As an editor, author, and agent, I have developed, edited, written and sold books published and distributed by all of the Big Five (Simon & Schuster, Penguin Random House, Hachette, Macmillan, and HarperCollins) and to many established independent presses and other top publishers, including Sourcebooks, Pegaus, and Yale University Press. In other words, I can connect with authors on a very deep and genuine level because I know, first-hand, what the process is like for writers, from the dizzying excitement and exhilaration of offers and acceptances to its disappointing lows and blows, and how to successfully navigate everything in between. Being an editor and literary agent is the best job in the world and it allows me to help other writers achieve their own publishing dreams.
